What’s Behind The Walls!

One of the most annoying things for any homeowner is to hear the floor squeaking underfoot. To prevent this, we do several things: First, we use TJI Floor joists which don’t bend, warp, or twist which causes the sub floor to move up and down. Second, we use glue and nails to initially secure the sub floor and then we screw down the sub floors in every square foot of the house. In this particular house, we used over 10,000 screws! As we continue to show you the progresses on this custom home we designed and are building in Bloomfield Village, we are at the drywall stage with about 4 months to complete the interior.  This Oakland County custom home (near Birmingham and Bloomfied) will be ready for the new homeowners during May, as promised, we will meet our 8 month build promise for the nearly 5,000 square foot house.  It has plenty of custom finishes.  The careful planning and daily attention to the construction schedule will assure it is completed on time.  Watch our progress here every few days.

More Updates – Progress On Sylvan Lake

This is the third group of videos showing more framing progress on the lake front home in Sylvan Lake, Michigan (Oakland County).  This is a home we have designed and are building.  It is a very traditional “cottage style” home, perfect for the area.  Sylvan Lake is a beautiful Oakland County lake near Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, the Royal Oak, Franklin, Bingham Farms and centralized north Woodward area.

This is the second group of videos showing more framing progress on the lake front home in Sylvan Lake, Michigan (Oakland County).  This is a home we have designed and are building.  It is a very traditional “cottage style” home, perfect for the area.  Sylvan Lake is a beautiful Oakland County lake near Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, the Royal Oak, Franklin, Bingham Farms and centralized north Woodward area.

Original Sylvan Lake was a resort area.  It has homes dating to the early 1900s and likely before.  As is common in the area, many older homes are replaced with custom new homes.  Our clients had a great vision for this home which is it should be designed as an original “cottage” home.  With their help, we were able to design a wonderful home0 which fits in perfectly on this beautiful lake front site.

Bryan Leith, the project manager, has been providing video blog clips.  We are posting them on a regular basis, every few days. Here is another video with great explanations of the quality and attention to detail going into the house.

True Cottage Syle Design - New Home Under Construction Sylvan Lake

Here’s a two minute video of a beautiful new home we designed and are building on a lake front lot in Sylvan Lake, Oakland County Michigan.  It happened to be very cold this early January day, but the framers are, at about mid-point, doing a careful, detailed job.  More videos as this house progresses!

By the way, this house was designed to fit in with the surrounding lakefront homes.  It is designed as an original, true “cottage style” home.  An architectural rendering is shown below.
